July: The Ultimate Planning Period | Edutopia
I find this such a coincidence -- earlier today, I commented on a post by Lisa Dabbs on this subject: learning during the summer months.
Lisa mentions Webinars as one of her suggestions, and in this article, Terry Heick, mentions instructional design and curriculum planning some of the areas educators should consider thinking about during the summer months...
One idea I have come across a few times in my readings, which is also mentioned in this article, is checking with your personal learning network (PLN) with the purpose of discussing, sharing, collaborating and, ultimately, being open to new ideas.
Interesting points!
Hi Rita,
ReplyDeleteI agree, this article was informative and reassuring as we do both tasks currently in our masters program.
Let's not forget to enjoy the summer too!

ReplyDeleteHi Cari, we are certainly building quite a tight "PLN" here.
Therefore, as you mentioned, we have certainly been discussing, sharing, and collaborating -- and yes, I absolutely adore the hot sun!
Thanks for your comment.
Great article Rita!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny when you think about summer break and people assume that it's a full 2 months of interrupted vacation. Yet, when I stop and really think about it, it's not really the case. We just have the luxury of spreading out our tasks within the 2 month period :)
Luxury: study break
ReplyDeleteHi Roshel, we are actually back at work in mid August after having had 5-6 weeks of "summer prep" for the fall term.
I plan to start my pre-planning for the fall within the next two weeks, so I have an idea of where to start when we return.
I, too, enjoyed reading the article by Terry Heick.
